Gin has been a designer-maker for as long as she can remember. She has derived an enormous amount of pleasure and satisfaction from the pure acts of creating and making. She has recently been inspired to create sculptures of animals which are part of a landscape which she details on a hillside or even with the animal itself being the landscape.

Media: Ceramic and lustre
Dimensions:  36cm tall

This piece is available to purchase in our exhibition but cannot be sent until mid June. Please let us know if this is a problem.

Artist Bio: Gin Durham
The inspiration for Gin Durham’s Ceramic work stems from traditions of storytelling and a life-long fascination with the representation of animals in culture. She draws on an imagination which has been shaped by treasured tales and imagery, translated into sculptures. Clay is such an expressive material, lending itself to exploring emotional connections with many narratives. Gin sculpts in clay to represent fluid forms based on anatomically correct studies, though creativity enhances and exaggerates detail in the work. The pieces are sculpted in stoneware or porcelain, often incorporating textile impressed elements and finished with oxides and underglazes, transparent gloss glaze and precious metal lustres.
