Born in Surrey in 1968, Joanne Smith, The Barefoot Beachcomber, is a self-taught artist who has been creating original work, in many mediums, since her mid-teens. Art had been a self-financing hobby, which fitted in with her work in vintage fashion and retail until she moved with her fiancee to Dartmouth in 2009.
Jo now creates her collectable cards and framed pieces full time and is in demand countrywide. Her first creation, a seahorse, is still her favourite to make. She incorporates vintage jewellery, watch parts, swarowski crystals and charms into her work to give them a little bit of sparkle.
