Collection: Alice Gare

Alice’s designs are all inspired by the North Devon/Cornwall coastline, where she has been living for over 20 years.

Alice handbuilds ceramic wall pieces, clocks and tableware in white earthenware, porcelain and paper clay. The white surface is important as it gives her a fresh, bright background. She then works in a painterly fashion, using slips, underglazes and oxides. She also handcuts paper stencils, prints into the clay using plants and uses other printmaking techniques to illustrate her ideas. Devon hedgerows, cliffs, the sea and birds are at the heart of her practise and often feature heavily in her designs.
